Brian was raised in Stoystown, Pennsylvania, and graduated in 1998 from Johnstown Christian School in nearby Hollsopple. In school, he played sports, joined clubs, and developed a deep love for music. He learned to play the guitar and often expressed himself through poetry. He also enjoyed reading and spending time outdoors—especially fishing, camping, and riding his motorcycle. He deeply admired his grandfather and loved every meal his grandmother prepared. Above all, he found his greatest joy and purpose in being a father to his two children, Alexis and Cody.
In December 2001, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was assigned to the 20th Equipment Maintenance Squadron at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, South Carolina. Rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant, he deployed to Iraq in early October 2008, serving as assistant noncommissioned officer in charge of the 332nd Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron Phase Dock at Joint Base Balad. On October 23, 2008, just three weeks into his deployment, he died from non-combat-related medical issues.
His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched—as a father, friend, and mentor. Colleagues remember his leadership, compassion, and unwavering dedication. He was generous with his time, especially in mentoring younger airmen and lifting morale during long shifts. Those who served with him recall a man of integrity, warmth, and humor—someone who brought energy and light into every room.
