Chris grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he discovered a lifelong love of reading. He spent hours in bookstores—reading, people-watching, and sipping coffee. His curiosity about people and cultures fueled his passion for learning and led him to earn two master’s degrees: one in public administration from the University of South Carolina and another in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Oklahoma. He was known for his sharp wit and infectious smile.
In November 2008, Chris joined the U.S. Air Force. He served in Germany, Africa, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. For his dedication, he received several honors, including the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Air Force Achievement Medal. In 2018, he was named Air Force Captain of the Year.
Chris passed away on January 3, 2019. His legacy lives on through his wife, Ronelle, and the many family members, friends, and comrades who continue to honor his memory.
