Josh grew up in Millbrook, Alabama, and graduated from Stanhope Elmore High School in 2007. He had a passion for cars, especially customizing them to enhance their appearance. His family and friends admired his warm personality and his gift for making others laugh.
In 2008, he joined the U.S. Army, driven by a desire to serve his country and to pursue college or trade school through the GI Bill. Stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, he served as a signal support systems specialist. In June 2010, he deployed to Afghanistan with the 723rd Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, 184th Ordnance Battalion. He loved his work and believed the Army was a perfect fit. While overseas, he chose to extend his enlistment. On January 19, 2011, Josh was killed in a rocket attack at Kandahar Airfield.
His legacy lives on through his wife, Melanie; and his extended family, friends, and comrades.
