Steve was raised in Clarksville, Tennessee, and graduated in 2004 from Enterprise High School, where he participated in a variety of sports and extracurricular activities. The son of two West Point graduates, he embraced the family’s tradition of service. He earned an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he played rugby and was known for his leadership and teamwork.
After graduating in 2009, he commissioned as a field artillery officer before transitioning to the Army Warrant Officer program. He completed flight training in 2018 and joined the elite 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Night Stalkers) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. As an MH-60M Black Hawk pilot, he also served as a mission planner and instructor. His deployments took him to Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey, and other locations on no-notice missions in support of national security. He was among the five soldiers killed on November 10, 2023, when their helicopter crashed during an aerial refueling exercise over the Mediterranean Sea.
His legacy lives on through his wife, Allie; their sons, Landon, Duke, and Brody; his extended family, friends, and fellow service members. His warmth, loyalty, and selfless service continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
